“September 7th in the Beer calendar is National Beer Lovers Day which is a day to celebrate the variety of Beer”
However you love to drink beer, we can agree on two things – its tastes great and it brings people together. For thousands of years, people have shared a passion for beer.
Believe it or not, there is over 100 styles of beer – which is something that attracted me to Craft in the first place. Bored of the same tasting beer, my adventure’s have seen me sample various styles of lagers, ales, sours, wheat’s and stouts. Every beer, a little different than the next for better or worse which make them individual. I have taken inspiration from so many successful breweries who started life as a home kit brewer, it just goes to show what passion, hard work and determination can do.

The cooking process of making beer is a lot more complex and time consuming than I realised. The variant of hops, the stages of addition and even the timing of addition are key elements to what makes a beer tastes great.. who would of knew? The community is incredibly welcoming to even a newcomer, visit a taproom and ask a question and you will learn everything you ever wanted to know.
I have attended various beer festivals over the years, all a little different but the same principle.. great beer, great people and great times. If you ever want an introduction to craft beer.. go to a festival. Usually an entry fee of £10 for a smaller scale festival will give you a guide to all the beers, a glass and maybe even the odd token to spend. This will give you access to various beers from various breweries and gives you an opportunity to discover what sort of beers you like. The individuals who serve you are volunteers, giving up their time so you can enjoy yours… for the love of beer, what a community.
Through instagram, I have had the opportunity to speak to a lot of people from around the world. Some represent companies, some brewers and a lot of people just like me who love beer. The majority are very open to a chat regardless of how many followers they have. Its great to be part of a wider community, some of those conversations I see become friendships and I love to see the Beer Selfies, the meet up’s and bottle shares that so many of you are involved in. If you ever find yourself down my neck of the woods – get in touch, we have a lot of great beer.

For a first blog, National Beer lovers day seemed fitting… through a love of beer, my eyes have been opened in such a small space of time, it has created some new opportunities, some new friends and given me the chance to tap in to my more ‘creative nature’ that so many of us lose in the mad rush that is adulthood.
Until next time – Cheers.
